Applying Your Press-On Nails

✨✨Before getting started, read the instructions before applying your nails! This will help you understand the why’s behind every step so that your press-on nails last longer. ✨✨

Step 1: Gather Your Tools First things first – lay out your press-on nail kit. You'll need:

  • Press-on nails (of course!)
  • Nail glue (the magic potion)
  • Cuticle pusher 
  • Nail file
  • Buffer
  • Alcohol Wipes (for squeaky clean application)

Step 2: Prep Your Natural Nails Using the cuticle pusher, gently push back those cuticles. If you have old polish hanging around, bid it farewell with some nail polish remover. Pushing the cuticle and removing any old polish will allow the press-on nail to adhere only to your natural nail and nothing else. This will prevent lifting of the edges of the press-on nail and allow a longer lasting manicure. 

Step 3: Buff and Shape Grab your nail file and shape those nails to perfection. Give the surface a gentle buff to ensure maximum adhesion. This will make the surface more rough and gives the glue something to hold on to. Using an alcohol wipe, remove any debris that may create a barrier between your natural nail and your press-on nail.

Step 4: Select Your Sizes Match each press-on nail to its perfect partner. File the cuticle area and sides to match your nail bed, if needed. This will give it a more  salon finished look 🤩

Step 5: Cleanse and De-Grease One more time! If you want your press-ons to stick like glue (pun intended), swipe your natural nails a couple more times with alcohol wipes. Oils can prevent your press-ons from adhering to your natural nail. So grab those alcohol wipes, and wipe that oil from your nails. You’ll thank me later.

Step 6: Apply the Glue Squeeze a small amount of nail glue (a little more than just a drop) onto your natural nail. No need to go overboard – a little goes a long way in the world of press-ons!

Step 7: Press-On Perfection Apply the press-on nail onto your natural nail starting with the cuticle area until the glue has spread completely between your nail and the press-on. Hold it in place for 35-40 seconds to let the magic happen. The longer you can hold the press-on nail against your natural nail while the glue dries, the stronger the adhesion and the longer your manicure will last!

Step 8: Repeat and Slay Repeat steps 6-7 for the rest of your fingers. 

 

A few tips for your tipsy’s:

✨It is best not to wash your hands for at least an hour after application. I would recommend applying a new set of press-on nails right before bedtime, if possible. The longer you prevent water exposure after application, the better the glue will dry.

✨Don’t use your nails as a tool! You know what I’m talking about. 😏 Use a utensil to open that soda can; a box cutter to open up that amazon package! Give your nails that TLC. 

✨Use gloves if you’re on dish duty. You’ll thank me 2-3 weeks later 😉
